4 | I. STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

6 | The purpose of the Association for Computational Linguistics (ACL) Special Interest Group on Web as Corpus (the SIG)

7 | shall be to promote interest in using the web as a corpus; to provide members of the ACL with a special interest in web as corpus with a
|
---|
8 | means of exchanging news of recent research developments and other matters of interest in the area; and to
|
---|
9 | sponsor meetings and workshops on web as corpus that appear to be timely and worthwile, operating within the framework
|
---|
10 | of the ACL's general guidelines for SIGs.

13 | II. ELECTED OFFICERS
|

---|
15 | The elected officers of the SIG shall consist of a President and a Secretary. The President and Secretary shall be members in good standing of the ACL.
|

---|
17 | The term of all elected officers of the SIG shall be three years.
|

|
---|
19 | The duties of the President shall be:

20 | (1) To have primary executive authority over actions and activities of the SIG.
|

21 | (2) To prepare a written report on the activities of the SIG for the Executive Committee of the ACL, for
|
---|
22 | presentation to the ACL at its Annual Business Meeting.
|

23 | (3) To act as a Liaison Representative, who shall be primarily responsible for communication with members of the
|
---|
24 | SIG, answering inquiries about the SIG, and communication with the Executive Committee of the ACL.
|

|
---|
26 | The duties of the Secretary shall be:

27 | (1) To maintain a mailing list for the SIG.
|

---|
29 | III. ELECTION OF OFFICERS
|

31 | All officers of the SIG shall be elected by a vote of the membership. The vote shall take place at least 4 weeks before the expiration of the terms of the officers to be elected, with at least 4 weeks' notice of
|

32 | nominations to SIG members.
|
---|

|
---|
34 | IV. DUES
|
---|
35 |
|
---|
36 | The SIG will not charge dues.
|
